Gardening for the planet event – POSTPONED

We have reluctantly decided to POSTPONE this event due to the deteriorating Covid-19 situation. A new date in the Spring will be announced soon.

The event was planned for Saturday 4th December for an afternoon of learning, culture and engagement with the natural world - a chance for Wealden residents to discover and share practical steps we can all take to protect biodiversity in our own gardens and in local green spaces.

Our speakers include:

Prof. Dave Goulson of Sussex University
Author of Silent Earth: Averting the insect apocalypse and The Garden Jungle: Gardening to save the Planet

Laline Paull
Award-winning author of the 2015 novel The Bees (now being adapted for stage at the National Theatre)

Keith Obbard
Green Party District Councillor for Withyham and a member of the High Weald Bee Keepers' Association

Break-out sessions:

  • No-dig gardening
  • Creating wildflower verges
  • Creating wildlife ponds
  • Better composting
  • Caring for woodland
  • Benefits of dead-hedging

With poetry by Jemma Borg, winner of the International Ginkgo Prize for Ecopoetry in 2018

The event is free. Register to guarantee your place.

  1. Please re-run event as I will not come to this one due to Covid levels being very high in the immediate area.

  2. hallo.
i would like to attend the afternoon event on Dec 4th Gardening for the Planet but the registration suggests theres no place like home.
I am somewhat confused .is the event over subscribed?

  3. Hi This is Sue Burton from Rother GP. I saw this fab event but hadn’t realised until now that it had been postponed. Did you have enough people ? Would it be something that we could bring or advertise to Rother residents in our target ward ?
Could the organiser be in touch with me ?

    Thanks
    Sue

  4. I would like to be informed of the date for the rescheduled meeting. I am particularly interested in the no dig gardening and wildlife verges.
